Lunch Shift

  • 12 volunteers are needed to help serve lunch every day.
  • Monday – Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. / Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Dinner Shift

  • 6-8 volunteers are needed to help serve dinner every day.
  • Monday – Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Invite coworkers, friends, & family to experience volunteering at Samaritan during a night of service.

Grocery Store Pickup

  • Pick up donations from our partnered grocery stores in Winston-Salem, NC.
  • Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Volunteers must be 18 and older to sign up.

Special Projects

  • Help keep our building and grounds clean by wiping things down, picking up trash outside, and planting flowers around the property.
  • Consider adopting Samaritan for a church or business day of service.

Breakfast Club

  • Collaborate with others to supply bacon, eggs, cereal, and other breakfast foods for our overnight guests.
  • No need to worry about fixing the food, just drop the items off at Samaritan Ministries and our staff/volunteers will handle the rest.

Supper Club

  • Organize your church, Sunday school class, neighbors, or co-workers to provide a dinner for our overnight Shelter guests.
  • Include a main dish, vegetable, fruit, bread/rolls, and dessert (optional). We can provide suggestions if needed.

 

All ages

  • Make 200 to 450 trail mix bags for Soup Kitchen guests.
  • Make 100 servings of a dessert, 100 PB&J sandwiches, or prepare 100 bags of trail mix for men in the shelter.
  • Collect items on our monthly Wish List.
  • Organize a food drive with your club, Scout Troop, or church group.
  • Invite someone from Samaritan to speak in your school classes about hunger & homelessness.

Kindergarten to Eighth Grade Students

  • Design and decorate 300 holiday place mats for the Soup Kitchen
  • Create decorative centerpieces for Soup Kitchen dining tables.

High School Students

  • Volunteer in the Soup Kitchen for lunch with a registered adult.
  • Gather a group of friends for a special clean-up project in the building or on the grounds.
  • Have classes within your school compete to raise the most money.
  • Obtain 5 hours of community service credit upon completion of a project.
